About Me

about the fire pilot

I'm Sean. I was born between two hills and a holler. For those who may not know what that even means - it means that I grew up poor. As many kids do, I often times looked up to the sky and wondered what the world looked like from above. I also wondered what it would be like to fly airplanes. My thoughts of doing so were simply not possible due to financial limitations.

As I grew older and became financially independent, I assumed that flying was still beyond my personal financial limitations. During a summer where time was on my side, we saved enough money to spend on an 1 hour flight lesson. I traveled to Morehead airport (KSYM) where I met my instructor. 10 minutes later I was in a 50 year old tin can with a 100 hp engine on the front climbing through the clouds.

I later bought that Cessna 150 and spent the next 100 hours flying around Kentucky and beyond awe inspired at the beauty of the earth.

Today, I'm a Lieutenant at a paid fire department in central Kentucky. We own an public safety equipment distribution company.

I am now a private pilot, with an instrument multi-engine rating. We fly a twin engine - Cessna 310R and we document our travels in this beautiful aircraft to share with you.

My goal - is to encourage you to begin that journey to becoming a private pilot and beyond. No matter your financial situation, rich, poor or anything in between, you the resources exist so that you can learn out to fly an airplane.

What are you waiting for - go fly!
